Well, happy New Year everybody!
“Are you insane Ladan?? The New Year holiday was well over 2 months ago!” I hear you thinking with surprise.
I know, I know. But I’m talking about the Iranian New Year holiday!
You see, tonight is our New Year holiday in Iran - called Norooz.
Yes, our holiday is on a different date over here. Also our year count is different too. You say it’s 2007 and we say it’s 1386.
As you have traditions for Christmas and New Year holiday, Iranians have their own traditions too. For example instead of a Christmas tree, we has a “Seven-S Table”. It’s a table where we put 7 things that start with the letter “S” in Farsi (Iranians’ language).
This table usually is consisted of apple, decorated grass, a special type of flower, coin, garlic, and some other things.
I celebrate the New Year holiday with my family this year: my mother, my father, and my younger brother.
While I’ll be sitting at the Seven-S table tonight, I’ll remember you and my friends in all over the world, and I’m be thankful for all the things I have reached this year and the wonderful people I have met online from 20+ different countries.
May your every year and every day is full of happiness and wonderful things to be grateful for! ![]()
